Mansie Shah

Mansie Shah

Born in 1986, Mansie Shah was a lawyer by profession before turning to her passion for the arts and channeling her creative energy in that regard. In order to pursue her creative interests, Mansie completed her Post Graduation Diploma in Modern and Contemporary Indian Art and Curatorial Studies from Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai. As an artist, the underlying tenet of her practice is to strip away the excesses and she looks at the intersection at which the intuitive abstract language meets conscious thought that allows her to slow down, process and distill ideas around large swathes of our individual and collective existence. The artist works with sparse, geometric ink drawings, sculptures in ceramics and has recently started to work with photographs - taken and edited on an iphone to create photo essays. Visually, her focal point is on line and form and conceptually, on the effervescence between the visual and the text, often the title of the work. She has participated in Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and exhibited her artworks in Mumbai and Indore.
