Pooja Si
Born in 1991, Pooja Si completed her BVA in Painting from the University of Madras and MFA in Painting from the Chamarajendra Government College of Visual Arts, University of Mysore. Drawing from the tradition of Hindu philosophy and geometry, Pooja’s art practice experiments with shapes, forms, colours and lines and is inspired by the visual language of great modernist pioneers such as Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, and Piet Mondrian. Belonging to a family of artists, the geometry of colours and juxtaposition of shapes appearing in rotating the kaleidoscope has conceptually inspired her to derive creative ideas expressed through her individual style and technique. The budding artist has been a part of group shows in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, and also held a solo exhibition at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 2015. Pooja won the 2015 Judges’ Choice Award at the 123rd All India Annual Art Exhibition, hosted by the Bombay Art Society. The artist lives and works in Tamil Nadu.
