Born and raised in Tripura, Gopa Roy completed her Bachelor of Visual Art (B.V.A.) from the Department of Drawing & Painting from Govt. College of Art & Craft, Agartala, Tripura and her Masters of Fine Art (M.F.A.) Department of Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal. The influence of the local landscape, the harmonisation of multicultural identities and native crafts of her hometown are evident in her artworks. She used the metaphor of connections through maps and roads, and prefers organic materials as a medium to express the form of the landscape. According to her, the rhythm of lines is a curious journey of life that leads her back home. The artist had her solo exhibition at Triveni Gallery, New Delhi (2021). She has also been part of many group shows including an Exhibition in “International women’s Day” at National gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi (2021), “Go Viral to Stop the Virus” World Exhibition at Art Reach Gallery, Portland, Oregon (2020), “BLURRED PERIMETERS, BLURRING IDENTITIES” at Bihar Museum, Patna (2019), A-Part: Stories of Lands and Lines at Akar Prakar Contemporary, New Delhi (2019), “Woven in time, space and Material” by Alliance Francaise Centre, Gurgaon (2015), “Artscapes” - All India Women Artists, Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Galleries of Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University, Chandigarh (2014) among others.
